ACC Rosters - Top 12 Facts

With the college football season now in the middle of conference play, we wanted to provide some geographical highlights of this year’s pool of players for each of the Power 5 conferences.

Below are our top 12 facts (in no particular order) of where the players in the ACC are from (other Power 5 conferences: Big 12; Big TenPac-12SEC).
 
1. There are more ACC players (20.6%) and ACC starters (76) from the state of Florida than any other state; 27 of the 76 starters play for one of the two ACC teams from the state (Florida State and Miami). 





2. Every team in the ACC has at least 5 players who are from the state of Florida, and every team except Virginia has at least 1 starter from Florida. 
 
3. 73% of the Power 5 Conference players from the state of Virginia play in the ACC, including 11 starters for Virginia Tech and 10 starters for Virginia. 
 
4. Syracuse is the only team in the ACC that does not have at least 1 player from the state of North Carolina, and Louisville is the only team in the ACC that does not have at least 1 player from the state of Virginia. 

5. There are more starters in the ACC from the state of Georgia (40), home to one conference team, than there are starters from North Carolina (31), home to four conference teams.





6. 79% of the Power 5 Conference players from the state of North Carolina play in the ACC. 

7. There are 5 starting Quarterback's in the ACC from the state of Florida and none of them play for one of the two Florida based teams (Florida State and Miami).

8. There are 10 players on the Duke roster from the state of California (including 1 starter); there are only 35 total players in the ACC from the state of California and only 3 starters. 

9. There is only 1 player in the ACC from the state of Kentucky who does not play for Louisville (Georgia Tech). 

10. There is only 1 starter on Louisville who is from the state of Kentucky; the Cardinals have 7 starters from Florida and 5 from Georgia. 

11. Of the 48 players from Massachusetts who play for a Power 5 Conference Team, 60% of them play in the ACC, including 18 for Boston College. 

12. There are only five teams in the ACC who have at least half of their starters from their hometown state: Florida State (12), Georgia Tech (12), Miami (15), Pittsburgh (13), and Virginia Tech (11).
